EZ Doc is a HSJ Awards 2018 finalist, developed when AT Medics recognised that the administrative burden on General Practice was becoming untenable within their 37 GP practices.
The solution to this problem was identified with three core elements:
- A change management programme, to orientate our GP colleagues to the new way of handling correspondence, introducing clerical staff and the wider team in a safe, efficient and sustainable manner
- A proven and easy to follow protocol developed and iterated through deep testing at-scale across an initial 37 GP practices
- Learning and development that can be sustained in the practice, to up-skill existing and future workforce, together with an audit tool to assure the efficiency and safety of the new way in which correspondence is managed
EZ Doc has now been delivered to over 1,000 GP Practices across the UK. This has on average reduced national GP admin time by 60% – more where other workforce such as pharmacists are in place, and in the last 12 months EZ Doc has released over 300,000 GP hours nationally, time previously spent on reviewing and actioning correspondence.
